our 6 point plan
tried and tested
It goes without saying that private tutoring offers many distinct benefits, including the power of personal interaction and the convenience of learning in the comfort of your home. However, the Teach Me 2 offering goes beyond the scope of conventional tutoring and includes a 6-point plan.

1. Outstanding Tutors
No half measures

Apart from the students themselves, our tutors are the most important ingredient in determining success. That’s why more than 50% of the tutors who apply for tutoring positions get turned away. All our tutors go through rigorous screening processes, which include a personal interview to assess teaching ability and personality. The selection of a tutor is not a random process but a careful consideration of many factors including:-
Communication skills, Personality, Ability to teach, General attitude and approach, Academic proficiency and Willingness to be and stay committed.

If at any time, or for any reason, you would like to try a different tutor, we will implement the change immediately.
2. Ongoing Feedback
A team effort

The new OBE curriculum states that learning must involve administrators, educators, parents, teachers and students for successful implementation. Therefore, Teach Me 2 relies on developing a strong relationship with all parties involved in the student's development. Teach Me 2 aims purely at being a supplement to and not a replacement for a student’s general schooling (with the exception of our home-schooling service). It is our priority to keep everyone informed by providing continuous progress monitoring and delivering ongoing feedback. You will therefore receive written progress feedback at regular intervals so that you remain 100% in the loop with what is happening.
3. A Correct Approach to Learning
Understanding the basics

We have found with problem-solving subjects, like Mathematics and Science, many students approach studying through memorising hundreds of examples. Although they may not be doing so intentionally, these students typically rely on having seen an example before they are able to solve it. In contrast to this approach – and in line with the National OBE syllabus - we are focused on facilitating understanding of a subject through problem-solving and critical thinking skills and not through inculcation.
4. Consistent Homework
Signed and sealed

Homework is set after each lesson in order to consolidate learning. We have a strict monitoring and feedback system. Pupils are actually asked to sign an agreement, whereby they commit to taking responsibility for their work and to doing the homework set by their tutor (and school-teacher) - hence making a concerted effort to improve results. This contract is probably not enforceable in a court of law but we’ve found it goes a long way to getting our students to shift gears into a winning state of mind.
5. Proven Lesson Formula
It’s all about timing

Through experience we have found that two hours is the most effective time for a single lesson. It strikes a balance between internalising learning material and actually implementing what has been learnt. In general, the first hour is focused on theory, making sure that students understand the principles of the learning material. In the second hour the student puts into practice the theory learned under the tutor's guidance. This length of time is also ideal for content subjects, where a greater length of time allows for a larger volume of work to be covered as well as a thorough explanation of any difficult content. The individual lesson structure is typically as follows:- The first 15 minutes is usually used to go over homework, while the last 10 minutes is allocated to the setting of homework and a review of the lesson. There is typically a short interval in between the two hours to assist in concentration. It is similar to having two consecutive school periods. (Remember: The final Matric maths paper is THREE hours long).
6. Custom Learning Resources, Workshops And Exams
A holistic approach to tutoring

Teach Me 2 has a library of resources which include popular textbooks, study guides, useful notes and internet links. We are constantly searching for new material examples, questions and learning 'tricks' to distribute to our learners. From time to time, workshops are held near to exams where groups of learners meet under the guidance of experienced tutors to consolidate work.
