I enjoy playing guitar, reading and writing. This year, I am studying a Post Graduate Certificate in Education after finishing my BAHons in English with an elective in French Literature.
I enjoy helping people and believe that I am patient and able to explain things clearly. I am good at keeping people calm when they are struggling to understand something. I get along with people very easily.
• I have a BAHons English first from UCT, my undergrad majors were French, English, and Philosophy
• I am now studying teaching
• I have tutored since my first year in university
• I was the youngest winner of the Barleycorn Songwriting Competition in 2012
• I earned a bursary to study teaching in South Africa as well as to pay for my B.A (Hons) in English
English
I love English literature and opted to study it at UCT. After my undergrad, I went on to obtain a first in my Honours degree in English. I am now studying to be an English teacher. I know that I can share my passion for the language with others.
French
I obtained a first for my undergraduate French degree. I also completed an elective in French honours, obtaining a first. I feel this equips me to teach the language. Furthermore, I have kept additional language notes that can help others.
Afrikaans
I really enjoyed Afrikaans throughout school. I believe that I could use my passion to help learners view the subject more positively. I love speaking the language and I love getting people to converse in and understand it.
Life Sciences (Biology)
I matriculated with 80% for Biology and really enjoyed engaging with the content.

I really enjoyed History at school, and have a good grasp of the content up to grade 9 level.

“She made a subject that I found very challenging easy to understand, as well as giving me useful tips that were very helpful in my test. She explained things in a manner that was easy to grasp and was patient.”

“I've said it before, but Emma has really managed to engage with Liam; this hasn't happened with his previous tutors. I think this is why Liam has done so well under her tutelage. Not only is he going to pass Matric Afrikaans (which was looking very doubtful 2 years ago) but he is likely to achieve at least a C for the subject, so I think congratulations all round are in order! We shall be very sorry to say goodbye to Emma and Teach Me 2... ”
