Bio

I view myself as a keen and canny learner. I love books and tend to thrive when left to myself in a library. The university environment I find very pleasant and it's my goal to work there one day.

I believe the fact that I have focused heavily on self-study in the last few years (for example with new languages), enables me to understand and appreciate the difficulty of learning something without much outside help. Thus, I believe thanks to my experience of teaching myself, I better understand the difficulties of learning, and might thus be better able to assist others in similar areas.

Education

• 2014-2016 BCom Supply Chain Management at TUKS
• 2015-2017 Worked as bursary holder at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics
• 2017-2020 Self-study and hopefully a philology student in Göttingen, Germany

My Proudest
Achievements

• Languages: I taught myself 3 new languages in 2 years
• Bursary holder: I have received bursaries on two occasions from different institutions and companies, which for me was a sign of the trust and confidence others have in me.

Subjects

  • School Tutoring

Economics

Grade 1 - Grade 12

I received 74% and 87% for Economics in 1st and 2nd semester of University (1st year), which covered High-School Economics up to Grade 12. I also enjoyed this subject as a course of study.

Accounting

Grade 1 - Grade 12

Accounting formed an integral part of my studies during school and university, one in which I am dually qualified to tutor High-School students.

Afrikaans

Grade 1 - Grade 10

Afrikaans is my mother-tongue and favourite subject to tutor. Since university I've also been interested in theories about the origins and development of the language. To me, along with German, it is certainly one of the most fascinating languages!

English

Grade 1 - Grade 12

English was my favourite language subject in High-School, even though it is not my mother-tongue I thoroughly enjoy studying it. I've completed a BCom degree in English and I read a lot. I am confident tutoring it as a first or second language.

I enjoyed statistics at university, because of its relation to Economics, which were among my favourite subjects in first year.

Business Law

First Year - Second Year

Business Law was for me a surprisingly pleasent subject to have, one in which I even enjoyed going to extra tutoring classes because of the import of extra help in such a complicated field.

Financial Management

First Year - Second Year

This subject is closely tied to Accounting with perhaps a spice of Economics, fields of study in which I excelled and had I keen interest in whilst at university.

  • Language Tutoring

German

Beginner - Advanced

I started teaching myself German during the end of 2017. After 1.5 years of self-study I started attending classes at the Goethe-Institute in JHB. There I attended classes for 2 quarters, after which I obtained 3/4 parts of the Goethe C2 certificate.

Afrikaans

Beginner - Advanced

Afrikaans is my mother-tongue and favourite subject to tutor. Since university I've also been interested in theories about the origins and development of the language. To me, along with German, it is certainly one of the most fascinating languages!

Conversational English

Beginner - Advanced

English is a language I have come to admire as I've become older and learned more about its origins. I find it an interesting language to study and also a pleasant one to tutor.
