I am passionate about children and teaching and I believe that I am kind, caring and compassionate. I am very active and love to surf and hike, and in my spare time I love to bake, knit and read.
When helping others, it brings me a sense of joy and love. I do not mind helping those who really struggle because I myself was at that stage at some point in my life. I understand that not everyone is the same so not everyone can learn in the same way. I am patient and am prepared to help others when they need it the most.
• 2015 - 2018 - Bachelor of Humanities (Rhodes University)
• 2019 - PGCE FP Certificate (Rhodes University)
• TESOL - 2019 Dec to Apr (Online - Open International Academy)
• The two proudest achievements so far in my life is that I earned my Degree and my PGCE Certificate. I've worked extremely hard to get to where I am today and I could not be prouder of myself. My second proudest achievement so far is that after two years I am not able to surf properly.
English
During my PGCE FP, I completed three practicals at three different schools. I taught grades 1, 2 and 3. During these teaching practicals, we had to teach a number of lessons and one of them was English. We did, comprehension, reading, grammar etc.
Mathematics
During our teaching practicals in PGCE FP we also had to teach mathematics, or in this case, number sense. I helped with each ability group, conducting exercises using counters and different ways of explaining things if learners did not understand.
Life Orientation
This subject mainly focuses on art, dance, drama and life skills. However, I only experienced art and Life Skills while teaching. I helped set up art activities as well as life skill activities (e.g. safety in the home).
Art
During my PGCE we were taught how to teach art up to Grade 3. However, I did art in high school as one of my main subjects and am willing to teach higher grades.
Computer Skills
I took Computer Application Technology from Grade 8 to 12 (using Microsoft office - word, excel, PowerPoint, one note etc and taught Computer Literacy from Grade 1 to 3 (using Microsoft word).
