Bio
I am an intellectual, thoughtful, efficient person who likes working with people and within a mentoring relationship I am kind and encouraging. I like to laugh but am serious about my work and goals.
I have worked in an Early Childhood Development Centre in the Transkei and in a language school in Morocco, so I have varied teaching experience. At school, I was chairperson of the Library Committee and was responsible for building enthusiasm amongst new recruits and encouraging them to take responsibility. I am motivated because I love seeing people overcome their difficulties.
Education
• 2011-2015: Westerford High School
• 2016: I took a gap year and worked in the Transkei, Morocco, Argentina and Chile
• 2017: I will be studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at UCT

My mother, a teacher, has always been strict with our grammar at home, and subsequently my ability to teach correct language structures is very good. I'm well read, and am able to help with interpreting literature and the structuring of written work.
Mathematics
I once fell behind in Maths and had to work hard to catch up. I think this allows me to understand how students are going wrong in their thinking. I have great materials to rebuild a sense of number which is usually where the problem starts.
History
I loved History and especially enjoy essays, as they allow you to show your knowledge of the subject. History papers are long and I would be able to help with time management. I am also able to help with source based questions and how to answer them.
Afrikaans
I am an effective tutor of Afrikaans grammar, and follow a rules-based practice. I can also help with the content of essays, and my approach would be to develop strategies for reading with comprehension as this helps build vocabulary and writing.
