I am a fun, hard-working Physics honours student at the University of Cape Town. I am interested in all things science and enjoy learning new things as well as sharing what I know with others.
I tutored junior school kids while I was in high school which I thoroughly enjoyed. It taught me to get down to the basics when explaining concepts someone has never heard of. People are then able to understand difficult concepts with ease later on. I am patient, understanding, and empathetic when I am interacting with people. Everyone is different and this is a useful skill when helping others.
• 2017 - 2019 - BSc Majoring in Physics and Astrophysics (University of Cape Town)
• 2020 - present - BSc Honours in Physics (University of Cape Town)
• One of my proudest achievements is that I have been an Allan Gray Candidate Fellow for the past 4 years.
• I am proud of being one of the top 5 achieving pupils at the end of Year 12 at my high school. Lastly, I am proud of finishing my degree in the minimum time.
Mathematics
I enjoyed maths throughout high school and did it for 2 years in university. I learned techniques for studying and understanding mathematics during high school that I used to achieve good results.
Physical Science
I am currently doing my honours in Physics at the University of Cape Town. Doing physics is a learned skill and a matter of practicing. I can simplify complex concepts and make them easy to understand and apply.
Drama
I did extra-mural drama from Year 1 to 12 which I loved.
English
I found that doing well in English is not about memorising but about understanding context. I was able to change my mark from 74% in Year 10 to 91% in Year 12. This is a skill I can use to help someone else learn to enjoy and do well in the subject.
Advanced Mathematics
Leaning to slot AP maths into a busy schedule is a skill I perfected in high school. I learned to simplify concepts and this helped me in my first year doing university mathematics. AP maths is a useful tool; I will be able to assist in excelling.
