Bio
I am a 50+ person who have not lost my sense of fun or hard work. My experience ranges from mothering,teaching, leadership, development, editing and writing, oration - I can hardly believe it myself!
The testimonies of those I have worked with and for will speak for themselves. I am a very empathetic person by nature and can quickly identify the root cause of a problem. I treat my students with respect and dignity. I believe in empowering others and can adapt quickly to any given environment. Lastly, I can remember what it was like to be a student and always try to place myself in their shoes

My Proudest
Achievements
• I am proud, or rather humbled by: Students from many years ago that still call me Mother. Watching 'difficult' students' personalities change as they start gaining confidence. Helping a student who had been using hard drugs since the age of 12, transform herself to become head prefect of my school.

Afrikaans
I have 20+ years of experience in teaching languages. Recently I have been developing and teaching a curriculum to meet the standards of CAPS for Grade 8-9 learners with no previous exposure to Afrikaans.
English
I majored in English and have for the most part been teaching in English as the LOTL. Most recently I was the Head of the English Department in Kuwait, Cambridge English School, Head of Department in Beijing (used PYP for IB) and EF in Yangon.
Study skills
Many students do not achieve their full potential due to lack of study skills, even at tertiary level. As part of the CAPS LO Curriculum and drawing from own research and experience, I have been supporting and teaching learners these vital skills.
