How do Grade 9 marks affect subject choices?
Grade 9 is the last year of the GET phase, and schools use its marks to guide, and sometimes gate, the subject package for Grade 10: maths versus maths literacy, physical sciences, accounting. Stronger Grade 9 marks keep more doors open.
Can a tutor help decide between maths and maths lit?
Yes. A tutor first rebuilds the algebra foundations, then you decide from evidence: if the marks recover, core maths stays open; if not, maths literacy becomes a confident choice rather than a retreat.
