I am enthusiastic, creative, empathic, respectful and a good listener. I'm organised and goal-oriented, but always remain flexible, realistic and open to new ideas.
I think my approach of being learner- centred is key to being an effective tutor:. From the start, I make a concerted effort to find out the needs, interests, strengths of the learner eg. through a fun interview and consulting the parents etc. My ability to encourage and motivate for example by giving the young learner praise notes eg You wrote four lovely sentences today about your weekend.

Achievements
• I co-wrote 2 ABE learner workbooks: "Living Conditions in South Africa", and ."Doors of Learning".while working at a Literacy project. in Cape Town. It was so exciting to see learners at different centres respond with such enthusiasm to both books.

I have taught Afrikaans as a first additional language for more than 10 years and have assisted learners in a fun and meaningful way to develop their oral communication, reading and writing skills as well as grasp the basics of Afrikaans grammar..
