General Questions

What does a tutor do?
A tutor helps students improve their understanding of key concepts, solve problems, and develop the skills needed to succeed in tests, assignments, and exams. They offer personalised support tailored to each student's learning style, helping them build confidence in areas ranging from foundational concepts to advanced topics.
How can a tutor help improve a student's grades?
A tutor provides one-on-one attention, tailoring lessons to a student's unique learning style and pace. By addressing specific challenges, reinforcing essential concepts, and teaching effective strategies for problem-solving and test preparation, tutors help students build confidence and develop the skills needed to excel academically.
What are the benefits of one-on-one tutoring?
One-on-one tutoring provides personalised lessons, focused feedback, and a learning environment free from distractions. Tutors adapt their teaching to each student's individual needs, making it easier to tackle challenging topics and achieve academic goals. This tailored approach ensures more effective progress compared to group learning settings.

What is the cost of hiring a tutor in Brixton?
The cost of hiring a tutor in Brixton depends on the tutor's qualifications, experience, and the level of subject being taught. Teach Me 2 offers competitive rates ranging from R300 to R500 per hour, ensuring you're matched with a tutor who fits your budget and learning needs.
How many hours of tutoring are recommended per week?
Most students benefit from 1-2 hours of tutoring per week, whether they're preparing for exams like Matric finals, tackling university-level coursework, or improving foundational skills in subjects like mathematics or English. However, the ideal schedule depends on the student's specific goals, learning pace, and areas of focus. Your tutor can recommend a personalised plan that fits your needs.

Tutor Qualifications and Expertise

What qualifications do your tutors have?
Our tutors are highly qualified, with backgrounds in education, relevant field-specific qualifications, and the subjects they specialise in. Many hold advanced degrees, such as in mathematics, English, or science education, and have extensive teaching experience. If you're looking for a tutor to help with high school exam preparation, university-level coursework, or specialised skills like conversational English, our tutors provide top-tier instruction tailored to your needs.
Do your tutors specialise in advanced topics?
Yes, our tutors specialise in a range of topics, from foundational concepts to advanced areas. If a student needs help preparing for specific exams or tests in Brixton, from NSC to Cambridge A-Levels, we've got you covered.
Are your tutors trained to work with students with learning difficulties?
Absolutely. Many of our tutors have experience supporting students with learning challenges, such as ADHD, dyslexia, or processing difficulties. They use tailored strategies, like breaking down complex concepts, offering step-by-step problem-solving guidance, or adapting lessons to different learning styles, to ensure every student can succeed. Regardless of whether it's building confidence in mathematics, improving English grammar, or mastering study skills, our tutors are equipped to help.
Can I request a tutor in Brixton with experience in preparing for specific exams?
Yes, we can connect you with tutors in Brixton who have experience preparing students for major South African exams, such as the NSC (National Senior Certificate), IEB (Independent Examinations Board), or Cambridge International exams. From helping with Matric exam revision, understanding CAPS-aligned curriculum topics, to mastering advanced-level coursework, our tutors offer focused and effective preparation to meet your goals.

Customization and Flexibility

Can I choose a tutor in Brixton who matches a specific learning style?
Yes, we prioritise matching students with tutors who align with their learning style and academic goals. Whether the student learns best through visual aids, step-by-step explanations, or hands-on problem-solving, we'll find the perfect tutor to support their success. For students preparing for South African exams like Matric or IEB, or focusing on language fluency, we ensure the tutor's approach is tailored to maximise results.
Do your tutors create personalised learning plans?
Absolutely! Every tutor creates customised lesson plans tailored to the student's strengths, weaknesses, and academic goals. Be it that the focus is on exam preparation for CAPS or Cambridge curricula, improving foundational skills, or tackling advanced topics, our tutors design each session to be productive and impactful.
Are group tutoring sessions available in Brixton?
While our primary focus is one-on-one tutoring, we also offer online maths & science classes led by top South African teachers. However, these are online. These group sessions are a more affordable option and are ideal for students looking to prepare for Matric CAPS or IEB exams, or those seeking extra support in subjects like mathematics & science.
What happens if I want to change my tutor?
We want you to feel confident in your tutor choice. If the fit isn't right, we'll find you another tutor and you won't pay for that lesson. If you aren't satisfied with the progress after five lessons, we'll refund every cent you paid for them.

Results and Outcomes

How long does it take to see improvement with a tutor?
While results vary, many students notice improvements in understanding and confidence after just a few sessions. For example, learners preparing for Matric exams or tackling IEB coursework often see noticeable progress within a term, especially with consistent tutoring and practice. Regular sessions also help build a strong foundation in subjects like mathematics, English, or science, leading to lasting academic success.
What kind of results can I expect from your tutoring services?
Our students typically achieve higher grades, enhanced problem-solving skills, and greater confidence in their academic work. For instance, many see improvements in test performance for CAPS or Cambridge-aligned curricula, while others benefit from personalised strategies that address unique challenges. Beyond grades, our tutors help students develop long-term study habits, critical thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of complex concepts.
Do you track progress during tutoring sessions?
Yes, our tutors monitor progress closely and provide regular feedback to both students and parents. This includes tracking improvements in key areas, such as understanding challenging concepts, preparing for Matric or Cambridge exams, and achieving personal academic goals. Adjustments are made as needed to ensure the student stays on track for success.
Can a tutor help with exam preparation and test-taking strategies?
Definitely! Our tutors specialise in exam preparation, offering targeted practice sessions, reviewing past papers, and teaching effective strategies to tackle exams with confidence. If you're preparing for Matric finals, IEB assessments, or Cambridge International exams, our tutors tailor their approach to help students master key concepts, manage time effectively, and reduce exam anxiety.
